I don't think this has been brought up in many months so I think it's time for a refresher. There are two good sites (and I know there must be many more, these are two I really like) that offer a wealth of good information just for the taking. If you are new to the hobby or new to investing in coins, I guarantee there are some articles you'll benefit from.
First, I like Tom Becker's site because it offers an incredible amount of free articles on different subjects. [There is also a member's area which has a fee, but the free area is huge.]
And Heritage offers an area with numismatic articles which loads very slowly for me (just a warning) but also has a large number of articles.
Happy reading!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

For FE and IH collectors, the Fly-In Club makes some of their quarterly's articles available through their site (which I now host). Some real series specific info here, which requires Adobe Acrobat to read. Link. By the way, the president of the club, Chris Pilliod, wrote an article in Heritage's numismatic writing contest which won first prize.
