Nice looking half. Is the hint of blue in the scan on the coin?

  • Frank,

That is nicely toned and tough for the date. It also looks very well struck which is unusual for the date. My 1962 PCGS MS65 FBL is a typical white blaser. It would be cool to eventually find a really great toned example. Scans are tough to grade by but it looks MS64/65 and possibly FBL. Nice coin.

  • It's really neat Don:

It looks like antiqued bronze with blue, purple and gold highlights throughout. Beneath is a really brilliant coin which makes the coin look almost lacquered. You get a sense of it on the scan of the reverse a little bit.

  • looks nice but i still don't like toning i was taught white is best and am having trouble getting out of the white is best thing.

  • Mike:

It's in a PCGS MS65 holder, but a new one - I would easily give this coin an MS66 without thinking about it too much. I think the previous owner tried to hit a homerun with it and came just short. It is also a very good strike with FBL's that are unfortunately interrupted by a very unfortunate hit right smack on the bell lines! Ah the sadness of it all! - but still a pretty coin! image
