Here is something that's always bugged me. If it was Columbus that discovered that the world is round why do all the statues of Atlas have him holding a round globe on his shoulders. Shouldn't it look more like a pizza box? Wasn't Atlas way before the middle ages like ancient Greece?
I don't know about Atlas (or Galt), but the world was known to be round for many centuries before Columbus. It was primarily the multitudes of uneducated who believed the world was flat. I believe it was 1968 before Alan Sheppard was able to look out the window and see the world was round.

had to do with the condition of the heads and brains of the world leaders
at that time. Come to think of it.......... perhaps it still applies. Bear
