Govenor of Maine takes the mint to task

We all know how the mint will take a state quarter design and turn it into some abomination of the original. The mint did that to the Maine quarter too. Gov. King and Senator Susan Collins, also of Maine persuaded the mint to change the original design back again. The mint had taken one of the masts out of the schooner to just two. The original design featured the Pemaquid Lighthouse and the three masted schooner Victory Chimes, the largest vessel in the states windjammer fleet. They wouldn't know a schooner from a trawler. Also, along with the mast addition the ground under the light house will be raised.
