David Hall Rare Coins on eBay

Seems like DHRC has been selling a lot on ebay in the last 6 months. They started in 12/00, but of their 3300+ feedback, 2700 have been in the last 9 months.

Seems like they have decided they can take lower margins by increasing their volume.

The margins on their shipping charges are huge. Several dollars profit from each sale in shipping charges alone.

I have been considering bidding on some of his ms67 Roosie dimes but what I don't like is the picture they show you isn't the coin you are bidding on. Atleast they say that and they say you will get a brilliant gem.....Why not just post a picture of the exact coin you are bidding on?

  • I bought a couple of proof JFKs from them. No, they weren't the one's in the auction pictures, but they were very nice coins. I think they probably have so many auctions going on that it would be a hassle keep all the pictures straight. From my limited experience with them, I don't think you have to worry about the ol' "bait & switch" thing.

Shipping was listed as $6.50 per coin, but I got them to combine shipping and they knocked it down to $8 for both coins.

I bought a cheap coin from them (under $50) on eBay and factored the shipping into my bid. It worked out to over 15% of the bid price! But, I was happy with the total for the coin and paid quickly. They actually sent the coin Registered Mail which required even more postage than they charged. So, they actually lost a few bucks on my shipping despite the high rate. Why they would choose to use Registered Mail for such a cheap item is beyond me.

I buy coins from both their website and from their eBay auctions...they always use registered mail no matter what the order is and they ship for free on orders of over $200 (at least on orders from their website). As WH noted...just factor high shipping into your bid when you go after cheap coins of theirs on eBay.
