Ted Naftzger

Is he still alive today? I think he is, but I'm not quite sure. Anyhow, when he dies how much do you think his 1793 PCGS MS68 RD Large Cent would get at auction? I'm sure this coin would be "the ultimate coin" to ever have. I would love to see it.image

  • Ted is very much alive but the greatest large cent collection of all time has been dispersed. The slabbing of most of the coins occured post sale. I'm not sure just which of the '93's you are referring to, but his S-5 (ex: lot 5 of B. Max Mehl's Atwater sale)was the gem of gems- MS 70, the Noyes' plate coin.
  • I was talking about the Atwater coin. Do you know how much the coin sold for?

The Atwater Coin was sold by Jay Parrino to a private collector in the mid-1990s. It is now part of a set of high-grade 1793 Large Cents.
