PCGS and dreaded finger prints!

OK, so I get a nice shiny new PCGS slabbed PR67 coin back and it has a damn finger print in the field on the obverse. It is VERY noticable!

My question is HOW does this happen and HOW does it leave PCGS with such a print if their quality control is so high!

Who is handling these coins? Chimpanzees?

OK, now I have vented. Anyone have suggestions? Also is there a service that will "restore" the coin to its perfect self?

I would also love to know if their is a way of removing finger prints. I have a few JFK's that have been gropped a little bit. I'd contact PCGS about the finger print and see if they will take care of it for you.

Fingerprints are actually pretty easy to remove - from proofs anyway, don't know about business strikes. MS70 does the job quite nicely and is much gentler then eZest.

...but not from copper, right? Fingerprints on copper, and my understanding is that that's pretty much the end of it. Is that so?

I've never done anything with copper. Mostly silver and a handful of clad.

I don't have any MS70 or eZest for that matter so I guess I'll have to try to pick some up. Thanks for the info Russ, the finger prints are all on MS Silver JFK's from the 1965-1968 range. To be honest, when I bought the coins I thought they were proofs due to the surfaces, but I am pretty sure I just paid bullion prices. They not very valuable, but I like them and plan on keeping them, so I might as well git rid of the prints.
