Adrian wouldn't like me. I killed a ton of rattlesnakes as a kid when I was living over on the east side of my state.

  • After reading his description, I agree that I don't see too many nicely toned Peace dollars. Strange title though...........image

Yeah I noticed that auction too,,,he has another called something like "the butt ugliest toned coin in the world" or something to that effect. But "Two naked chicks"? Isn't this just another type of keyword spamming? image

  • Gotta give the guy some credit. When was the last time you saw an auction with over 1700 hits? A common date coin already bid 4X premium.

And I completely agree with him about the rattlesnakes or any snakes for that matter. People who kill them for fun, think they are some evil creature, scared, or simply because they are stupid and uneducated are total jerks.

The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
  • I don't know if you could call the eagle a naked chick...I thought it would only qualify if it was a baby. I think One Naked Chick would be more accurate.

Who is this ANACONDA charater? and why is he using this type sexual language to describe numismatic
works of art. Obviously he thinks its funny. I don't. Its a detriment to the superb coins he is selling.
Why would someone who sells such beautiful coins, use such pedestrian language to describe them.
I don't get it. Obviously these coins are intended for serious collectors. Why would a serious collector
be drawn to this type of description. Am I being too serious or does anyone agree with me? And how
is the anaconda snake numismatically relevant?

Numismatics is not the stodgy hobby of days gone past (for better or worse?). I give ANACONDA tons of credit for bringing a certain informality to Coin Collecting that is not only amusing and entertaining as it is enlightening.
I like his auctions descriptions and LOVE his coins!

He's one of those Collectors (Dealer?) I'd like to meet.

I don't see to much harm in his auction verbaige as the coin is going to sell for more than it's worth

It's not my place to say, you are intitled to your opinion and to not bid on the coin, if you don't like the listingAnd how

I for one am glad that you stated your opinion, even if it differs from mine. We all look at things in a different light and that's what makes us unique as individuals. Adrian (ANACONDA) has a unique selling style that may not fit in with what everyone elses values or morals may dictate. He is a a good guy, and a great person to do business with regardless of how you view his auction descriptions.

Contrary to some of the comments above, I find Anaconda' s descriptions entertaining and clever. Also he clearly is not doing this as a spam method -- do you think he wants or cares that some person seeking dirty pictures will access his auction site? Do you think they are potential customers or bidders?

Nothwithstanding this perspective, I feel sorry for the winning bidder who paid the outrageous price of $1200 for the "butt ugliest coin in the whole world." What must he have been thinking?

In all seriousness, I feel these threads about Anaconda would be much more informative if they focused on the various aspects of the numismatically interesting coins he offers, and not on the numismatically unimportant issues that have been the centerpiece of much of the recent forum threads and responses. This is supposed to be a coin forum, not a personality poll.

Regardless, I can assure you that Adrian's personality, intellect and generosity are impressive indeed. And, in my opinion, he definitely kicked butt in the previous currency debate. In fact, that debate was so one-sided that he actually lost the war, so to speak. But, let's move on from here to coin matters, and hope that Adrian returns to this forum to liven things up, perhaps with a slightly lighter touch.

some snakes are dangerous they have slits for pupils in their eyes, while the harmless ones have a round pupil...when you know how to tell the diffrence you cant get bitten. he has the round pupils, hes a good guy, and offers many a beautiful coin, most adds are borning, one could almost fall asleep while reading them but not his...

I was thinking the same thing.

  • This is a perfect example that if you really want a coin and are willing to pay "STUPID" money for one you can have at it. This coin will go for well over the retail price of an MS66 dollar of the same date - RETAIL mind you. Now I respect Adrian and his tastes, but I couldn't bring myself to pulling the trigger on that bad girl. I know, I know, I'm going to keep wallowing in the duldrums of AT Morgans most likely, but until such time where $700 or $800 means nothing to me I just can't justify it in my mind. Years from now we'll be talking on here about the wonderful toned Peace dollar that Adrian sold for that price and look at the extra zero that it's now commanding, but truth be told, I can't ignore the fact that it's just a "pretty" common coin.

    Say good nite Gracie....

    Frank
  • The coin sold for $762 - amazing! LOL
