Are you sure about the 1879-S? I have a PCGS POP 1 coin that has no luster at all. It is in a G-06 holder.

I'd send it back. If it's truly a pop 1 coin their should be some luster hidden on the rim of the coin

The majority of the Morgans with great luster comes from the San Francisco mint. The SF mint kept the dies polished and replaced old, worn dies other than the other mints....

Aout ten times in a row, when I went to various coin stores there would always be at least one knockout DMPL that, although I thought was reasonably priced, was still out of my budget at the time. About the eighth time, I realized that semmingly all had been 1880-S.
