Question...Vintage trading card board

Do any of you guys use the vintage trading card board to sell your cards? If so, do you get much response? The reason I am asking is because I am going to break up my 1968 Topps baseball set and was thinking of listing my commons there for a while instead of ebay in order to save time and cost. Any input would be appreciated...Thanks

  • Jared - Perfect forum for what you want to do. 68's offered would definitely attract attention there. Feel free!

    Jared,

If you're looking to move your cards in a short amount of time - forget it.

If you've got time to wait, then definitely stick them up there for a while and see who bites since its free. My last post for 1972 PSA 8's in the $10 to $12 range allowed me to sell a grand total of 3 cards out of over 100 diferent ones listed. And that wasn't counting the two people who emailed about cards and never sent money.

    Good luck!

    FB,

I think it depends on what you're selling. The 1972's appear to be in a slump. Cards are sitting at $5-$7 in PSA 8.

I have had some decent response from my 1954's...but if you have to move everything immediately...it's probably not the best alternative.

    Alan,

Now... definitely it wouldn't be worth it for 72's. But when I had listed them - it was June - right near the beginning of the 72 slide - prices had fallen from the $13 - $15 range down to $10 - $12 and before they had fallen to the $6 - $8 where they presently sit.

I think that the board is great for less common items - like your 54's, or 71 Greatest Moments, maybe 70's Kellogg's, etc. But, if you post something relatively common items and for more than what the low bids are on eBay - I think that they quickly get lost in the shuffle and people seem to prefer to take there chances at auction.

Thanks for the responses...I'm in no hurry to sell them so I'll probably post them and see what happens. Listing them seperately on ebay would probably take me three months to do, so any I could sell without ebay would be a bonus. I guess I just want to try to maximize the sales price so I can start my next project, which I am still debating on.

  • The only requirement I think there should be for the vintage trading board is that the cards be PSA graded. Buying PSA graded cards is so much easier for both the buyer and seller. When you start getting into raw cards, you have the same problem as you do everywhere else raw cards are sold - sellers overgrading or selling bad stuff, and angry buyers. PSA having available a place to facilitate fast and easy PSA deals is a good thing. If it turns into a raw card dumping ground it will be turn into a headache and nuisance for PSA and the PSA collectors who also use the board.

Just to clarify...the cards I am going to list are all PSA graded mostly 8's. All together I have about 50% of the set graded with some doubles.

Frank - since one of the people who emailed but never sent money would be me (I put the printout aside and forgot about it under a pile of stuff), my apologies.

Jared - I would also suggest listing them on Naxcom. It's a sales site, rather than an auction site, so the items can remain indefinitely. There's no listing fee, and sales fees are reasonable.
