Long Beach anyone?

Well, it's less than a week away and I'm going to my second Long beach show. I loved it the first time I attended last year. Still compiling a list of what I'm looking for, but a nice mid-grade Fugio cent would be a nice start. Anyone on else here going? Also, has anyone tried out the PCGS or NGC grading services at the show? I'm thinking of bringing a coin to get (re)slabbed and wondered what other folks' experiences were.

I'm planning on being there Thursday. Maybe Saturday too. I've been tempted to use the grading service there but never have.

    Thursday for me.
  • It will be interesting to see some of the old members there, since they have stopped posting here
some of the original guys that always go to the LB show.
why have so many of the cool guys dropped out of this forum ?

How much money does it take to have a fun run at a show like that? I usually get spent out in the first 20 minutes it feels like because I want it all! Not to mention I ain't rich.

is it because of lame comments like yours that have caused the valued members to leave?

I have been here for 3 years and watched the bantering back and forth and playful exchanges.
and even a few hilarious flame throwers.

but then i saw the boards change to foolish comments like yours that have seemed to borish the scene

why don't you go away and take all of your support with you

    thank you

Wow! I've been posting here for over a year and this is the first negative, flamelike comment I've received. I guess it had to happen eventually.

As for my comment, I was just trying to make a humorous reference (and will continue to do so even if you find it borish), thus the smiley.->image If you interpreted it otherwise that's unfortunate, as I too miss those members contributions.

I would have PMed this but you don't have yours enabled.

Read Atlas Shrugged the first time in 1960-all 1069 (prox.) pages in one setting. Missed classes at OU two days as I was enthralled and really felt "a man could stop the motor of the world" at least in Ayn Rand's mind.
Would that I had kept the coins and currency from that era.

    Beryl,

Don't worry about hijacking my thread. I don't post all that often, so any response is a compliment. image

We'll (me and my girlfriend) be there most of Thursday and part of Friday. I send her around to find the most attractive coins out there; she's good at picking out the nicely toned or natural looking coins. Unfortunately, she finds a lot of 4 and 5 figure coins in that search too. image As for spending it all in the first 20 minutes, that can be done! I usually look over most or all of the tables before I snag something. Most dealers will hold something for you if you want to look around some more. Overall, I'm looking forward to it. i consider myself fortunate to be able to attend and go at all; you won't find me griping on and on about lack of material, not just the right slab at the show, etc. If I end up with one eye catching piece and have a great time in southern CA, that makes it all worthwhile.

As a side note, I'm also looking for more of those Matchbox Across America 50th anniversary cars. Maybe someone at the show will have them. 28 down and 22 to go. I can't even find the TX car around here - my home state! image
