It seems to take a long time to make "Braddick" coins.

I've had a 2000 SAE and a set of five 2002 Silver SQ proofs rattling around in my pocket for a couple weeks, and they're barely down to 55. What's your secret, Pat?image

I heard rock tumblers work... but they cost too much to buy right now

  • Russ,

I don't know how he does it. Perhaps pants pockets lined with sand?

I do know that I would love to find a PCGS B01 Peace dollar, though (Braddick01).
  • The coins in rock tumblers that I have looked at have tons of small nicks and take on a highly polished look. The rubber drill bit deal sounds like it would work good.

That is what makes a "Braddick" so rare and desirable. It takes years of meticulous care to preserve an ms68 coin, but it also takes a similar meticulous sort of treatment to make a desirable PO-01, for example.
(...Pretty neat to have an entire group of coin classifications named for you, huh?)
  • I have a 2000-P Sac dollar that I have had in my pocket since these beasts came into circulation. It was about ms65/66 when I got it and now the breast feathers on the eagle have nearly worn smooth. When the face of the baby looks like a smooth blob I'm going to give this coin to Braddick simply because he's the only one I know that would really value a problem free PO-AG Sac. I'd say the coin has about 3-4 more years of pocket change friction to get there.

Oh yeah, I thought I lost it once and I tore apart my house and car looking for it! I found it under the car seat. What a relief!

Thanks guys. You are all great in helping me on this quest.
In fact, my collector hat is tipped to Cameron as he sent me a PM earlier today on two super low grade PCGS Seated halves and a terrific offer for both (quickly accepted and added to the Registry!).

I'd say half of all the coins gathered in the last three years have come from you guys.
Where else, but on THIS Forum would a Collector recieve the assistance you all have given to me? A heartfelt thanks to you all. I sincerely appreciate it. I think of the "Worse Known" Registry as OUR Registry.

Now, if I could only get RegistryCoin to find me that Hawaiian Commem in VG08. . . image

Unless one takes a metal detecter to Hawaii to find a long-lost raw one in the sand, you might as well ask for a Hawaiian in p7 while your at it. It is probably easier to find. image
Great set and great fun for us all!
    ps. Is this too nice?

Actually (inside joke, probably too inside!) there is a VG08 Hawaiian. It's owned by a Commemorative Collector (partners of the guy who bought that "MS66"-turned into=MS68 $20,000.00 toned Monster from the last Long Beach sale).
He owns it. Won't sell it (to me). -Figured you Steve, out of anyone, would have the juice to get him to let go of it. . .
I think Mitch has seen it and had a lead on it, but he's not talking to me right now, so I took a shot at you Steve!

But, even so, I probably do have more of a chance with a metal detector off the shores of some deserted Hawaiian island.
