of the cent, nickel, dime, quarter, and dare I say, half dollar and dollar coins?

From what I understand, within a decade it'll be changed over.

my estimate is that they are pretty much up against the wall on a date for the nickel due to the lewis and clark bicentennial----probably the end of next year depending on what the politicians decide.

what confuses me is that this coinage thing in congress certainly CAN"T be a priority considering the fact that W is busy trying to save his daddy's reputation and assure his own re-election. agenda's, everbody has agenda's!!! if things settle down they might get around to it on the schedule the mint has proposed. if it gets bogged down by world circumstances or stuck in the committee's, maybe we'll get our wish and the cent will have some hoopla on it's 100 year anniversary. that would be cool.

i think the only certainties are that the nickel will be changed for 2004(?) and the state quarter program will run till 2008(?).

I'm pretty sure the SQs will run beyond 2008- possibly beyond 2009. I was told that DC and our territories (puerto rico, guam, american samoa, etc)

They are doing the territories after the states are finished.

I've heard people mention that, but I've never read it.
