How many mint sets and proof sets have you broken up for individual items?

I've not been back into this long, but I'd say about 25 or so. Its an easy and economical way to get moderns.

This five will be victims tonight. The halfs are actually nicer in person than in the scans. I believe one of the Lincolns and one of the Jeffs might make cam too. The rest will be saved for my next grab-bag giveaway.

Not too many, perhaps between 10 and 20. But I was seriously looking at some proof sets in the 50s and 60s that have cam or perhaps dcam Franklins as opportunities to raise my body count. I have a tough time telling through the original proof set plastic how much cameo there really is, I know there is some, just not how much.

I cut open a mint set to get the SBA's, but cannot bring myself to open a proof set.

That was a pretty cool purchase. Glad you got it but I wish I saw it first. I never look at JWCAMEO's auctions. Just assume since he deals in cameos it be hard to find a good deal in them. I guess it is true what they say about when you assume. Jay

None. I was thinking if I sent in my wife's original 1951 proof set I might get some decent grades increasing the value of the set. We probably won't do it though, it is nice to have proof sets in original packaging.

DHeath: nice catch! One of those Jeffersons appears like it might have a deep cameo reverse.

None, but to all of you who do break up proof and mint sets.. keep it up! You're making my complete sets in original mint packaging all that much rarer.
