With a current population on the 1997 PCGS MS-69 Silver Eagle of 1,164, what could possibly be wrong with running an auction describing the PCGS Population at 787?

With an auction description not reflecting the PCGS Population increase of 48%, why should any newbie buyer be upset? Maybe this guy needs a little nudge to "improve" his Population numbers.........

ok, exactly how many people would ever care about the population of something like this? betcha its a whole lot less than 787

It looks as though he amended it to read that the pop figures are incorrect.

At least the first bid was $10. The guy may have an older population report. Dunno. For some reason I feel like giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I'd guess he's using an old population report.

But, I'd also say that anyone sophisticated enough to know what a population report is, knows how to verify it.

He's run probably 8 or 10 auctions in the past 3 months using the same Population numbers, even though the Population numbers have been significantly higher the whole time. A seller doesn't HAVE to provide Population numbers in a coin's description. However, if they choose to do so, then they should make sure they are accurate and updated regularly.
