The coin pictures I have looked at from that company's auctions all seem to have a glow to them. I have never saw a coin that glowed, I wonder how they do that? I am not saying the coins are not nice because they look to be. I just wonder about the pictures being true to life. I seem to remember someone posting about a month ago that they bought one of their coins sight unseen thru a internet auction and was not happy because it didn't look like the picture did.
Placid , glad you mentioned that. I bumped it up wondering what people might think. My take on this is they might have lit it up for photo.
My take also is if this coin was viewed in person at first glance it would be like the description says. Probably a dull powdery color than under a light and tilting the coin you would get some bright colors.

It's pretty but it would be more pretty if the periph tone went all the way around. Looks like it is cameo too. I wonder what kind of marks those are in the face.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
Dog, you bring out a great point that the coin would have much greater eye appeal with consistent peripheral toning.
Michael, I will always value your opinion! In the description it calls the toning "powdery." That adjective alone would make me really nervous.
The one thing that I do like about the coin are the light pastel colors. I don't see that too often in naturally toned classic coinage. If the toning flowed a little better and didn't look so mottled in places I would be on this coin in a heartbeat.
hi therr mike!! now i cant say for sure as i need to see the coin in person but i think this coin would look way different in person and not as good as the scan also even if the coin had monster toning the nicks and deep scratches on the obverse to me i do not like at all
yes from the photo is is a very good coin but unfortunately it is only the photo not the rreal coin in front of you that is the problem and the comments as per this above i think were well said by all on here and they are very astute in their accessment of this coin and other things they mentioned
Their estimated value was about bluesheet price. So at least they were not getting wild on that. But I stay with my feelings that it doesn't fit into a 66 holder.
I'm pretty picky on the technical aspects of a coin first before I go to the color. But thats me.

That is one thing that I have noticed about the NGC is that a really nicely toned coin that has above average eye appeal will often times get bumped one or two grade points above the technical grade. I agree in this case that the technical grade is probably PR64/65.
Agreed, and not only on toned coins. But I'm not looking to get a thread going on that one.
I will just leave it at that.
But I agree with you that if the colors were like the photo it would be pretty. Edited to add: I know your original intent of this thread was the color and I should have stuck with that. I just couldn't help myself.

unfortunately this coin on this thread toned in the auction is not a great coin maybe so if seen in person but it would be a rare occurance if it was
