Hey, I think I finally figured out the price guide! (algorithm enclosed)

The price guide has from day one, irritated me. I know... that's a personal problem.
But - I went through a sampling of 20 real-life "buys" and factored them against the price guide.
Result: 0.516241247
Ergo - IF the theory holds, then this coin: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1381075385
should sell for: $65 * 0.516241247 = $33.56

Great question - and yes, in fact I did balance the two.
I'm probably 'up in the night' on this thing, but I thought it'd be fun to see what happened.
If we can figure out an accurate multiplier, then they could just plug it into their chart!
or - We can load the chart into a spreadsheet and just run a macro....

Leave it to Russ...
<< <i> So, Dan, what would a non SMS 1965 business strike Kennedy graded MS66 go for? It's listed in the price guide at $62. Or, how about a 1971 in PR69CAM? It's listed in the price guide at $90. >>
Russ, the '65 BS (business strike ) Kennedy would go for $32.01, and the 71 in PR69DCAM (pcgs, of course) would go for $46.46.
If you've been paying more, obviously you've been getting ripped off!
Russ - you of all people should know GIGO.
