Coin dealer still around?

Anyone know of Robert C. Hambleton Coins? How's their reputation?

Weren't they one of the big "coin factories" that used to take out those big 2-3 page ads in Coinworld? If so, I would generally stay away from advertisers like that as most of the stuff they sell is either overgraded or problematic, especially their gold and type coins. IMO, they try and appeal to the novice collector by offering everything under the sun at "attractive" prices.

I think dragon's right. Haven't heard that name in quite a while.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I remember the same thing. Usually over graded and or cleaned stuff. It appealed to the collector who looked at the price books and thought they were getting a great deal. image I think for the most part you should have genuine coins.
By the way, did you call Paul Sims about the $3? If so what was the result.

  • I've drafted a letter to Paul Sims, and as soon as I receive the invoice from my mother I'll send it off. I'll be back with the continuing saga.

His company is now called Mount Vernon Coin and he is Annapolis, MD. Used to be in Virginia but moved 6 or 7 years ago. If you need me to get the phone number PM me and I'll find it for you. Jay
