Ben Franklin and the Fire Department

All of you history buffs probably know that Ben Franklin helped established the first Philadelphia fire department. But how many of you know that Franklin was seriously injured in a house fire. A large portion of the right side of his head, face and neck received 3rd degree burns. Here is a picture of his injuries:

Poor Ben
The longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice is it possible for an empire to rise without His aid? Benjamin Franklin

I saw that one last night! BIN of $999.00 I believe (eBay). First thought was screaming AT. How could ICG get away with this?!

  • More importantly, how can ICG get away with grading this coin MS67 - I've seen several ICG MS67 Franklins lately on Ebay and there are simply very very few such animals, especially in a highly bagmarked year like 1955. There have been less than 100 graded MS66 by PCGS. Granted - maybe there's ONE out there that could be a 67 - but given my experience with ICG Franklins, this is probably nowhere close to 67.

If so, he's busy scratching his eyes out.
