Now what do I do? Ebay non contacting seller

Ok. Now what do I do? I won this auction. Yeah, it's not a coin, but you guys seem to buy them all. image

The seller may have been on vacation, but he/she had other items that closed throughout last week. I'm thinking he wasn't happy with the final results of the auction (it's a $30 item), so he might be ignoring it.

I was going to send a final set of emails (one using the provided email address and one using the ebay contact feature) before pretty much giving up.

What kind of procedure is there to notify ebay about this? I don't want a neg because I've tried to get a hold of the seller twice.

Any ideas out there?

Thanks,

  • You can either file a complaint thru Safe Harbor or you can file a complaint thru ebay directly - they do not appreciate
sellers who list auctions and then won't follow thru when the auction is complete. Unfortunately, the insurance that
ebay has on auctions has a $20 deductible (so you wouldn't get anything out of it).

    Hi Charlie,

I'd recommend contacting the seller again, as well as a few winning bidders of other items that he or she sold (to see if they have been able to get in touch). Good luck.
  • The only good thing about the whole deal is that no money has changed hands.

It slightly irritates me that the guy might not want to contact me because the item went so cheap. We've all been there (I know I've taken lumps), but hopefully other auctions will make up for the occasional rip.

  • contact other buyers is a good idea also you can get the guys phone # through e-bay. If you don't hear anything, neg. his ass, don't worry about a neg. in return you can respond.
  • Thanks for the input, folks. image

  • As a seller I've had some weird things happen. For some reason my server won't send messages to certain email addresses and it doesn't tell me message wasn't sent. Thought everything was fine until I got a message from buyer upset about not being contacted. I wouldn't assume the worst. Maybe get the sellers contact info and give them a call. It won't hurt.
  • a neutral stating "your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberry" would seem appropriate image save the negs for real ripoff artists, not worth the retaliation and from my experience eBay won't do anything to help you (in my case, I had even paid the jerk.)
  • Have you tried getting his phone number. Sometimes that gets people moving.

  • I often have a problem with sent mails never reaching the recipients or VS VS. To get around this I use E-Bay as my mailing service. Use the contact the seller link and write to them that way and see if you get a response. you can also get the sellers info including the phone number from e-bay and give them a call. You may find out they went out of business, or had a fire or something to explain the delay. If not, then choose to let it go seeing you never paid out anything or at least leave them a neutral saying "Seller never contacted me, and I really wanted the item. Their loss. "

  • I sent the seller email through ebay and his regular email address. I'm going to give him a week to repsond, then I'll report it to eBay.

I really don't want to give the guy a negative because I'm not really out anything, but I don't want him to think he can auction stuff without following through.

I'll probably just not leave any feedback at all. If the guy had taken money, it would be different story.
