Home PSA Set Registry Forum

Just finished my 1927 Churchman's set....

Invoice # 8016974. Not bad for cards that are 75 years old. I just sent in the update to the registry and my overall grade is 6.94 and change...... Appreciated by golf fans like me, but still way undervalued. Check out who is all in this set. It and the cards are beautiful. Anyway, thought I would share with all of you. Happy collecting! image

G.C. - It is also appreciated by non-Golf fans that know what kind of challenge a vintage 75 year old set can bring. Congratulations on your completion...jay
  • I am currently working on the same set and appreciate your effort. Well done!

JW, please PM me and let me know what you are working on or any other older golf sets. I have a lot of raw material that would grade high, just don't always send everything into PSA.

Well done, GC. I only see Jones for sale. Where in the world did you find commons from this set?
  • GolfCollector - I have been known to gouge out a few divots in my day, but do not collect Golf cards. Regardless, this is an amazing achievement and I applaude you for staying with what you like.
All PSA set builders are welcome here and it is my pleasure to extend you my hearty congratulations.

    Koby,

Great comment! You are right, most people just go after the 2 Bobby Jones cards in the set, although there are also 2 of Walter Hagen, a Tom Morris, and 4 Harry Vardon cards. These things are so undervalued it is disgusting.....but that makes it all the better for a collector like me.

Most of the cards you have to get in complete set form, and almost always from overseas (England) These were all produced in Britain, so that is about the only place to find them. I have a couple of great sources of raw cards over there, and also I subscribe to a few auction services that specialize in cigarette cards over in the UK.

I am still a little suprised that more folks have not gotten into the really old golf stuff, especially considering the rarity factor, and in the current Tiger craze. Anyway, thanks to all for your postivie comments and appreciate any more thougts......image
