  • Looks pretty real to me - though I've made some blunders in the past.

It does look like album toning, but, a reverse image may be helpful to you too.

If the rev looks similiar I'll go with album too. The color is kinda dull & flat like it has been cleaned & has retoned. Might just be the scan.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • i agree with dog i dont see very much luster.

  • I agree with the luster comments, and the colors of the toning and their clearly defined "bands" put up a warning flag for me. I would ask for a larger scan if you can.

You guys are right about the luster. I just took it the typical "P" mint later die state, with the associated weakness or flat relief and lackluster appearance. I also reserved those comments as "toners" seemed to ask specifically about the toning only. image

I've got one that looks similiar. DSC01169.jpg is from a dig cam while the other pict is from a scanner. 300-a is a straight scan while 300-a 2 is where I clicked "quick fix". Looks like 3 different coins don't it?

  • Thanks for the comments, I did'nt notice the lack of luster, I think I will stay away from this one because from the boards collective comments it was probably dipped years ago and then album toned. DOG97, them was some good pic's
    Thanks

I'm not saying to stay away from it, just keep an open mind. As you can see from my picts you can't always see luster in a scan. I will say mine is toned only on 1 side and probably wouldn't pass muster @ PCGS. I think mine prolly laid up in a jewelry box & toned that way but who knows.

  • DOG97, thanks, probably being who the seller is whom I won't mention along with the boards comments will lean me toward staying away from this coin, I know that this seller has sold AT coins in the past.
    Thanks
