Off topic: Did you see the De La Hoya fight?

Now Im not a real fight fan, Im just able to get it free on Satelite, I can never pass on free! I just may become a De La Hoya fan though, that fight was AWESOME! Now I know why he is so talked about! Im sure the crowd left happy. Did anyone else see it?

Well, no, but I just got back from Las Vegas yesterday, so I saw first hand some of the pre-fight hype!

PS -- WSM -- you're either up really late or really early!

  • By the way, How was Vegas? How long are you going to be around?

  • I had to choose from the fight or Penn State vs. Nebraska. I chose to watch MY Penn State team "CRUSH" the cornhuskers.image Although De La Hoya is a great fighter to watch.

  • I agree Wallstreet. Was well worth the time I invested in it! One of the better ones I have watched of late and something I needed after watching the last couple of Heavyweight bouts. Seems to me the lighter the guys, the better the fight.

Shoot! I fell asleep in my recliner just as it was coming on. Oscar has amazing talent and dedication. Not to mention longevity. Maybe I'll catch a rerun. Mark.

P.S. Go Penn State. I love to see a Big Ten team beat Nebraska.

  • Good fight. Lots of heart from both of these guys. However, neither De La Hoya or Vargas are in the same league as others in the "welterweight through middle weight" class (after all, what is a "super welterweight anyway?). Guys like Leanord, Benitez, Hearns, Cuevas, Duran, Hagler (welters & middle) were extraordinary fighters in the same general weight class. I can't imagine either De La Hoya or Vargas coming anywhere near these legendary pugilists.
