That's real pretty. I prefer periph over green monsters etc.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

That doesn't look like a Kennedy half, are you branching out???image
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Hey, that looks great. I kinda like the color just inside the rim. Russ, don't get too deep into Morgans, there is no escape from their gravity.

    Nice Morgie imageimageimageimageimageimage

I'll admit I'm suprised that it's not a JFK. Didn't have any nice ones to choose from? What did you think about the show??

PS. Be careful with those Morgans, they're addictive!!!!imageimageimageimage

  • Hey Russ:

Sell it to me - I bumped your nickel up! image
  • I got to see, and hold, and examine this coin closely today.

    It's... well...

not my cup 'o tea, but a very interesting coin nonetheless.

    Frank,

You want to hear something funny about that nickel? The guy who bought it was here at my shop today. He got a chance to see it in person; Tim, aka Osiris, aka 5th ranked proof Kennedy set. We had a great time checking out each others coins.image

And Don, he has a 1949 golden toned Jefferson that I know you would want - BAD.

  • Russ,

    That is a BEAUT!

Now that you've found a new love, I'd be glad to make you a ridiculously low offer on your Kennedy set(s).

Well, you know, Clark, I just added the last coin to set #2. Now, I'll have to start upgrading it.image

  • Russ, fabulous coin, I just bought a 50 D Jefferson and as soon as I get my Ricoh camera I'll post it.
Very similar toning. For the past few weeks I have tried to buy some of these toned coins. Do you think your Morgan would be graded by PCGS? I'm thinking about sending mine in at some point.

  • Russ, sorry to burst your bubble but it's AT all the way. You just don't get identical two sided toning very often, and the colors are too loud not to mention not what you normally see on Morgan Dollars . I would hope you didn't pay a whole lot for it so it can be an inexpensive education.
  • Very nice coin russ, i have a simaler one but the toning is not as vibrent and the reverse is just golden with some blue around the rim. yours might be AT?

    Russ,

Do ya think he'd sell it to me, seeing as how I ran that nickel through the roof on him!image

You think?image Yeah, I knew that. Matter of fact when I bought it, I told the dealer - in a loud enough voice so everyone around could here -"I'll take one of those oven baked Morgans!"image Of course, he had some BS song and dance about how he bought them from a dealer he trusts, blah, blah. I told him he could cut the crap, that I was buying it because I thought it was cool.

I'm new, but I'm not stupid. I pay attention to you guys.image

  • Yep... he REALLY DID do that too. I could hear him from 30 feet away.

Funny thing too was the guy had four of these natural beauties in his display.
After Russ bought it, we circled back around after about 10 minutes.

    guess what?

uh-huh... 4 lovely MONSTER TONED Morgans.

    Astonishing. image
  • Russ,

Russ, how about a post describing your thoughts about your first coin show?

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Heres another reason why Im going to stay away from Toning. When collectors start accepting these AT coins, more will surface, and what do you think is going to happen to the price of naturally toned coins?
You can fool man but you can't fool God! He knows why you do what you do!
  • Hey Russ - That freshly baked Morgan looks better now than when I saw it! Is it still changing colors??? image

i bet my dad would buy it, if not him i sulerly would. if i had the money.image
  • Hey Russ,
Glad that you knew it was AT when you purchased it, It's a pretty bullseye, but definitely AT, by the way I have some awsome toned Kennedys that are natually toned, I know this for fact, a couple in 1964 non Mint Set holders that are in Blue cardboard holder with a blue sponge like package underneath the reverse side housed in a plastic holder that can be opened, all the coins have electric colors, I think if I sent the coins in the holder to PCGS they would slab, but if I sent them individually they would probably body bag them because the colors are so intense. I purchased these in the early 70's, all the coins have beautiful colors, I am trying to get a scanner now so that I can post some of my Toners. I dont know much about Kennedys, may need your help someday.
    Thanks
    Allen
