Question Regarding Ebay Etiquette

regarding feedback - it is up to the buyer or seller to initiate feedback? Would I as a buyer indicate my satisfaction with the coins without the seller having left feedback regarding prompt payment, or prompt and thorough communication to close the sale?
I have received email from a seller on a number of occasions complaining I have not left him any feedback. To be honest, he was p-a-i-n-f-u-l-l-y slow in getting the merchandise out, alhtough in several email inquires he indicated he had sent in "two days ago" - although probably by pony express.
I believe myself to be an excellent buyer, I communicate immediately, ask for total amounts, inform the buyer when certified funds have been sent. If I were a seller, I would be quick to provide a buyer this attentive positive feedback.
With all that said - what do folks usually do?

Some people like to wait so if they get a negative they can give a negative back.
Personally, I leave feedback when payment is received (or item is received when I purchase). I don't ask for feedback from anyone - the feedback I get is from the folks that really want to do so on their own. I guess this make me feel good about the way I treat the people in my eBay transactions.
Thus far, I have not been stung on feedback (one can hope it won't happen).
Some of the other board members will probably give you other types of opinions based on their experience (which is probably greater than mine.)
That sums up my approach as well. I leave feedback for my side of the transaction as a seller or buyer when I get payment or goods. The other person is free to make the decision regarding their experience in the transaction. So far mine has been positive, and so has the feedback. I think anything else defeats the purpose of feedback in the first place. IMO
and it sets us apart from practitioners and consultants. Gregor
There are many many many sellers who see feedback as a way to hold buyers hostage. If they hold back their feedback it helps prevent a buyer from giving them a neg in fear of a retaliation negative.
Then when a buyer does give the seller feedback a lot do not care to take the time out of their busy lives to give feedback in return. They like seeing their number climb but could care less about anyone else.
Its all a bunch of $hit if you ask me.
As a seller as soon as you receive payment and ship your product your half of the transaction is complete and thus you should post the appropriate feedback.
When a seller receives the item and is satisfied appropriate feedback should be left. If there is a problem the buyer should contact the seller and resolve the issue. Once it is resolved appropriate feedback should be left.
As an ocasional seller I have always left feedback as soon as funds were received. Most buyers return the feedback some do not but I have never received anything but positives. If you are honest, fair, have good communication with your buyers and properly represent what you sell there should not be any problems.
As a buyer if I had not left feedback first I would not have half of what I got now.
The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
As a buyer soon as I get the goods and decide I like it I leave it feedback.
I leave feedback that covers all aspects of the deal like "Nice coin, Fast & Proper Shipping, Smooth Transaction" or "Prompt Payment, nice dealing with this guy." If there was something outstanding about the deal like a PayPal 5 minutes after the auction or I get my coin 3 days after I buy it or the other person exchanges several emails with me I will add something like "3 Day Rocket shipping" "Payment within Hours "Polite emails" or "?? quickly answered."
Some people are negatives paranoids so they wait til the other party leaves nice feedback first.
I have a life & don't have the time or patience to keep track of who leaves me what so I like to get it out of the way ASAP.
Of course I like to get feedbacks but I don't worry about it if I don't get it. If I get a neg after I leave a pos then oh well, so what? I doubt if a neg in my eBay feedback profile will ruin my life.
I don't beg, mention, or ask for feedback and if anybody tries holds me "feedback hostage" they may as well be trying to take a flying !@#$ to the moon.
Having the feedback tab on "MY eBay" and the drop down menus with remarks to chose from makes leaving feedback easy.

Bill, I admit, I have had well over 100 feedbacks not credited to me because I refuse to leave it first when I am the buyer. However, I can NOT in good concience say a seller is a good ebayer if they are not. Feedback IS an important part of Ebay IMO. Therefore, even if the transaction was excellent in every other respect, I will not leave feedback as a buyer before getting it from a seller. Since most already have 100+ feedbaks, I know its my loss, but one I am willing to take. I gotta make a stand somewhere, and thats it.
