Just picked up a new book

I just picked up United States Copper Cents by Howard R. Newcomb. This addresses large cents from 1816 to 1857. Since I have about 35 large cents most of which are raw and un-attributed (is that a word?) this is going to be fun for a while. It is a cool book, lots of information.

I like new numismatic liturature almost as much as I like getting new coins. I may need to pickup Penny Whimsey next.

Bought mine in '92 ... very THOROUGH... you made a good choice and as you Say Sheldon is next.... that will cover the rest of the large cents.. Then you gotta get the book on flying Eagles and Indian Cents by R.Snow ! That's even more fun ! These are excellent Reaearchers ! Then on to Abe... It never ends.... well... Then there's the Colonials on the other end of the time line...image

A "Superior" (excuse the pun) reference for Large and Half cents is the Superior Galleries catalog published for the sale of the Jack Robinson Collection of Large and Half Cents in 1989. Has great pictures and info for attribution of Large cents. There are still copies available. I think Jack Robinson, who puts out the Copper Quotes, will probably still have some. I will PM his address to anyone who is interested. The glue in the catalogs is getting old. If you plan on using it a lot, which you probably will, you might consider putting it in a binder of some sort. This is really the reference that I use most when trying to determine what the attribution number is of a Large cent.
It is a most excellent reference, even if it is a catalog. Mark

Sorry, guess that was misleading. It's new for my library. Not newly published. English was my second languageimageimage
