  • Peace Dollars with rim clips are quite scarce but not rare with clips of 5%. If the clip is substantially larger, it is worth quite a bit. $100-$150 for clips of 5% or less in UNC. For larger clips, it goes up geometricaly. 25% clips are extremely rare and go for multiply hundreds.

  • I'm really new at the forum and still trying to get the lingo-can you explain what a rim clip is and why it is worth more? I don't understand why "toning" makes a coin worth more. I have a couple and thought it was a defect.
    Thanks for your help.

  • A rim clip is where the blank for the coin was punched out of a place in the sheet of metal so that it was off the edge. Some clips are smooth and some are crescent-shaped.

Toning can be either good or bad depending on whether it is attractive. It depends entirely on demand.
