I liked Bear's Icon, but I don't want to plagarize... If I could figure out how to make new avatars (icons on the left)...
Hello everyone! I've watched over you folks quite a bit and decided to join in the conversation.
P.S. I just got notice of my first MS70 today! It takes the sting out of some of the PR64s that came back in the same submission...
Hello to gmarguli and Russ...

Before Russ has a chance to say it... Got any Proof JFKs???? He has enough, already!
Clark
Clark, well met on eBay... Friendly competition is usually a good thing... I try to play fair and have fun. My proof JFKs are usually silver 1999+ DCAMS (the occasional CAM :-( ). I've had lots of fun figuring out how to grade Kennedys and Sacs...
Got any Proof FK's?

LucyBop... I get them about every week or so (limited by budget on submissions...)
BNE... I do like Sacs and Kennedys. I've actually gotten halfway proficient at grading mint state Sacs (I'm working on Kennedys - they're much harder to grade accurately for me {personally}).
I do love moderns for the interesting things they hold and for some of the income for my family (coins are a hobby mostly, but they do supplement feeding the other bears in the house.)
That said, I am truly enamoured of the classics. My first coin was a Mercury (still have it), my second was a Buffalo nickel, my third was a Peace dollar (talk about lots of study to grade properly...
Was it MS or PR? Please "show & tell".

doereme (Love the moniker - I'm musical) The 70 is a West Point MS commem. What's interesting is that I knew it in my bones when I opened it... I looked at it lots of times with a 10x to try to find a problem and couldn't. I knew in my heart that PCGS is very strict (and from personal experience). But this one really looked great. No pics yet. I'm thinking it will hit the doorstep by next Thursday or so.
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!
Welcome aboard!

(Sorry, that was funnier when i was thinking it, rather than when i typed it.)

oh /ell, just ignore me.

Nice to have you here. I'm a big fan of classics so I can relate. One of my favorite coins is a pristine MS67FB Mercury. So much luster it almost glows in the dark.

It's grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat having you here!
Tom - I have to admit that I have a soft spot for Mercs. I've been lucky enough to acquire a gem FSB for my little type collection. It's not as nice as a 67, but it truly is nice. And to think that so many were lost in the great melt
TheNumish - nice to "meet" you, too. I've enjoyed your insights.
Russ - I do so love proof DC Kennedys I really like the '64 you sold me. It was my first proof '64 ( I had lots of MS ones as a kid. I kept asking why they were silver on the edge and not with a brown stripe on them... my folks said that it wasn't important - just spend them anyway )
Thanks again to all. I hope that I can contribute in such a way that it helps you all as much as this board has helped me.
and it sets us apart from practitioners and consultants. Gregor
I can't seem to get the slab flecks out of the mirrors, though. Maybe the next few I'll get better
Hope the picture works - my first try.
They are so superb, you almost want the picture rather
then the coin. Bear

Welcome Usrabear, thanks for joining us!
Bear,
Perhaps you, with your kind heart and gentle manner, the epitome of civility, might prefer Russ's pictures. But in total honesty, you can have the pretty pictures, dear ursine; I WANT HIS COINS!
I'm just ambling along with my old Nikon trying to get pictures that folks will like - but someday I'll get them to be as Bear has described.
and make it lopf like a PR-70 DC Kennedy.
But you are correct, lets take his coins and split them 50/50. Bear
