LanLord's Controversy

In the world of real estate we are constantly told it is all about "Location, Location, Location." What in your opinion is the three word equivalent for coins collecting?
Buy the coin...but be sure to pay for it.

    Original, original, original.

But that really only holds true on something of any additional value. After all, a completely original coin minted in the last fifty years really doesn't have a great deal of interest unless it's also got Grade, grade, grade. So perhaps there is no single equivalent. But at least we can stir up some controversy.image

  • I have to go with CarlWohlforth Eye appeal with a touch of rarity. And I mean REAL rarity not the phony modern rarity where there are 500 million pieces available but someone has one which is supposedly nicer then the rest (at least according to the label on the plastic) so they TRY to CLAIM it is rare. That is like saying the CEO of Enron is honest (although there is a better chance of that then the coin being rare).

I am so disappointed. I would have bet my last half dime you would have said "JFKs, JFKs, JFKs" image

Ditto Carl....as always. If it doesn't have eye-appeal, I could care what it grades.

    "snap, crackle, pop" as in

snap off the end of the slab
the plastic crackles as it falls away
    and out pops the coin

  • More than three words, but in the same spirit:

What you like, what you don't have, and what you can afford.

Interest, desire, affordiblity...hey, I did sythesize it to three words. Didn't go to college for nothin'!

we all seem to be making this much more difficult than it is

real estate is "location, location, location"

    which for some translates to

"near the beach, near the beach, near the beach"

    for others refers to

"in the mountains, in the mountains, in the mountains"

    etc.

    coins is "looks, looks, looks"

    which for some translates to

"beautiful rainbow toning, beautiful rainbow toning, beautiful rainbow toning"

    for others refers to

"DCAM proof Kennedy, DCAM proof Kennedy, DCAM proof Kennedy"

    and for others refers to

"worst example known, worst example known, worst example known"

    etc.
  • How about four words:

    Do you like it?

    B.

    'Nuff said
