Or any merc collector...Why am I having a hard time locating a 31-D Merc in 6 0r 7?Are they that scarce?.Also a 40-S Thanks Al
Al,
The 31-D is a hard date to find. I finally found my 65FB at Whitlow 4 or 5 months ago. The 40-S was also a little tuff. I bought a 65FB that looked better than most 66's, then finally found my 66FB in St. Louis last year at one of their shows.
Nice Mercs are hard to find.

Nice Coin. I knew it would be coming from Carl. Nice Set going but a little Color would help. Don't let My suggestion sway your desires though.
AL:
Northeast Numismatics has a 66FB 31D on thier site. Mostly White but does have some reverse light tone from thier description. I also think L&C has one also.
Got My 21P today and will post pictures a little later. Its PQQQQQQ !!!!
Ken
I sure hope to be able to bring it to your area one of these days after it gets finished to display at a major show....
I am very pleased with all the coins I have bought from several of the members here! Thanks to all of you that have sold me coins!

Congratulations on a nice '39-S. I'll have to keep an eye on Carl's offerings.
Al,
I remember looking for a 1931-P 30 years ago, and all I could find was 1931-D's!! A couple of dealers told me then that it seemed like everyone in Denver must have saved a roll of dimes that year. They were everywhere, far outnumbering the Philadelphia and San Francisco dimes of that year. I think the '31-D is just a popular date and is now widely dispersed, even with collectors who aren't trying to put together complete Mercury sets. It's a very low mintage date, almost always well struck with good luster, and it's reasonably priced. Even in MS66 & MS67, it's one of the most common pre-1934 dates. Apparently, they're in strong hands, and don't come on the market that often.

Al,
I have sent in several for regrade...hopefully my 31P will come back 66 with FB or at the very least 65 FB(its 65 now), unless they are blind again....(just kiddin' pcgs..just kiddin....)
