  • I think VF35 is very generous. Looks to have VF25 detail and possibly cleaned.

  • No, stay clear of this one. Don't pay VF money if you can't see a full horn. I have one 1926-S in F15 I paid $4 for.

    You don't need a full horn for these in VF or even XF grade. The strikes were so weak that the grading services will look at other features to grade the coin.

    This coin is in an NTC slab for a reason. Probably cleaned/tooled/damaged/whizzed or something else that doesn't show up in the photo. NTC makes ACG look like NGC.

    In cases like this just treat the coin as if it were raw (geez, I try to that no matter WHO holdered it). My suggestion is to let it go since I wouldn't advise buying "raw" coins without LOOKING at it in person. Fact is you don't know whether it's been clean/tooled or whatever until you SEE it and since you can't SEE it from Ebay let it go. I'm sure there are others 26-S nickels out there.
