Anyone have any experience with ebay seller: rpholdercoins?

Hey all,

Does anyone have any experience with ebay seller: rpholdercoins? His name is Randall Holder and his coins look pretty nice, but I have never bought raw from ebay and just wondered if anyone on the boards could speak for this gentleman?

Thanks much.

Name rings a bell (maybe even a member here?), but it's not somebody I remember doing business with. I don't know.

i think i remember buying an item or two and not being particularly thrilled. he's the one who says "i think the winner will be very pleased with the coin" or something like that. i remember not being very pleased.

p.s. just went back and checked, that is exactly the phrase he uses.

    for every coin.

I got hooked on this addiction called coin collecting thanks to Randy Holder's Web site. Because of him I am a helpless Barber Half Addict. image

I have bought many coins from him and he is as good as they come. He has a good eye for original coins and he uses an eye appeal chart that is quite accurate in describing his coins. He knows original coins, and looks for them almost exclusively. HIs auctions start at $1.00 and he uses some of the largest scans (after my own of course) on Ebay. He lets the market dictate the price. His website has fixed prices, so you could E-mail him for a scan and decide to purchase based on that.

I have purchased approximately $1200.00 Worth of Barber Halves from him and have never been dissappointed.

  • I bought 2 coins from him. A 1941-S half he graded MS64+ PCGS gave it a MS63. Then I bought and returned a 1863 cent. It looked great on the picture but was overgraded. I had no problems returning it. Maybe his circulated coins are better.
  • I've had a transaction or two with him and have not had any unpleasant experiences.

I've dealt with him. No problems.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • I bought two coins from him over a year ago, and had to return both coins. The returns were hassle free, and actually quite friendly, if that's possible. I do think his photos can be a bit deceptive. I don't know if it's the lighting, or the angle, or what. My coins looked amazing in the images, and awful in person. I guess that's how scanning can go though. He does have good feedback.
Raw coins on Ebay are tough. I've given up on it.

Randall is a big-time Barber guy, and he knows how to grade. He also deals in a lot of nicely-toned material.

I've picked up several tougher-date Barber halves from him. All were nice, original pieces, and worth every penny. He's one of the few folks I'll buy raw coins from. A-1 Seller.

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.
  • I have bought a couple of raw toned coins from him, good packaging and prompt shipment, although if you look thru his auctions over a couple of months you will see some of the lower MS raw coins having the same type color and same pattern toning, it may just be me, but be careful with raw toned coins with any dealer. As I said earlier, I was very satisfied with the coins that I bought from him. If you have any questions PM me.
    Thanks

i've gone back and checked, purchased two coins from him and they were both solid, grade-wise and price-wise.

just to set the record straight.

this getting old thing is rough, you think you remember stuff but if you don't check......

so shame on me, hopefully i'll be forgiven. ;-)
