What are the chances that this would crossover?

I was looking up BGS 1977 Topps cards and I saw this one. What would the chances be that a BVG 9.5 could crossover to a PSA 10?

Nice card. It would be necessary to see the back to know for sure. Knowing PSA, I would speculate that this would be a PSA 9.

  • This card is a real beautiful piece. Do keep in mind that a PSA 10 can be a rare find. I wouldn't recommend putting the kind of money in this card that it will take to buy it. If you look for grades of ten on any basis plan to be disappointed a very high percentage of the time.
I collect the 1960 and 1961 Nu Card issues. I also enjoy the 1959 Fleer Three Stooges.
  • I would say yes, it could be a PSA 10
(assuming you can get it out WITHOUT damage!)

  • It could be a 10 but is it worth the risk? I wouldn't bid much higher than the SMR for a PSA 9 unless you really like the card .... If you are doing this thinking you will make a profit I would pass ... Remember BVG was founded on the principal of leniency for vintage cards vs modern cards. My guess is 9 times out of 10 (or more) this card would be a 9 in a PSA holder.

It's not worth the risk. I don't like or use BVG, but on ebay, BVG cards consistently sell for more than their PSA counterparts with similar grades.

Crossing over from a BVG 8.5 and trying for a PSA 9, I'd say go for it. But, to get a 10, you really need to have all the planets lined up in your favor. More than likely, it would come back as a 9. Not because it might not be worthy of a 10, but its so subjective between the two, that the odds are really, really stacked against you...
