Seller on ebay named seylevel - several PCGS MS67 Kennedy's for sale. Look at the pictures. Am I seeing things? Coins look like they have been run over by a truck. Can slabs be opened and resealed?

I don't trust anyone. But, the coins are recently graded, so my assumption would be that it's the sellers lousy scanning skills that make the rims look damaged. Be aware, though, that this seller refuses to combine shipping on multiple lots. This is why I no longer buy from them.

I don't know if the recent grading gaurantees the lack of defects. I have bought from teletrade and other auctions and try to let my eyes be the judge. Too much inconsistencies in the slabs to buy unseen!
"Buy the coin not the holder" isn't that the way it goes.

1st problem is the scans weren't too good in the first place and then ebay lowers the resolution of larger files. I have seen it happen to my scans, so I changed my practices.
The rims do not appear flawless and there are reflection spots like nicks here or there but the scan may be making it worse. I suggest you email them with your questions.

I just wish more sellers would accept paypal. Uh oh! Don't wanna get Russ started! What I meant was... I wish seylevel would accept paypal! Yeah... that's what I meant.

There were problems in the early days with that exact problem happening but you don't see those slabs circulating anymore. If someone has figured out a way to split these brittle things and sonically reseal them they are probably making a small fortune right now but they wouldn't be wasting there time on $20 coins! Also you can tell these are recently slabbed coins by the barcode under the cert #.
I was thinking about opening a paypal-dedicated checking account just to make it easier for you.

Anything to keep the money flowing from my pocket to yours, eh?
Seriously, I'm just glad to be able to buy from someone who's honest and accessible. I stop at the post office every day to check my P.O. box, so sending money orders is usually no problem. My use of bidpay for the seylevel auction was an experiment on my part. Too expensive, and I don't like not knowing exactly when it is mailed.
Now, get back to upgrading those registry sets so I can buy more of your "rejects".

It was shipped in a piece of bubble-wrap inside of a folded-over cardboard, stapled & taped closed (not a self-adhesive folding package thingy). So packing materials were basically zero-cost.
Normally, I wouldn't care about that.... BUT, on top of that the package was NOT insured, which I paid for. So, actual shipping cost.... $2.13 + no purchased packing materials. Ok, they made $1.12 for their trouble.
BUT, not insuring my package TICKS ME OFF!
They never left me feedback when they received payment, so they may be one of those sellers that holds off until they see how the whole transaction goes.
I'll let you folks know what kind of response I get when I email them about my $1.30.
I know $1.30 isn't much money, but little stuff like this gets to me sometimes.
Edited to add:
BTW, the coin is very nice.
Edited again to add:
I'm thinking they'll tell me they 'self-insure' their packages. They just happen to charge exactly what the USPS does.
I'm surprised the post office was able to find you with all that black stuff on the address.

My name is well known at several government agencies.

So's mine, but not my address. Even the IRS and the SS Administration think I live at my business address.

They all think I live in my P.O. Box!

P.S. - Here's the coin I bought from seylevel:
<< <i>The package was insured and I have a receipt showing so. If you would like a copy of this receipt please send a self addressed stamped envelope and I will provide you a copy. So no refund is due. >>
Every other insured package I've received has been clearly stamped "Insured". Now that I've looked at a few other packages I have, it seems that $2.13 would have to include the insurance, because it's an awful lot to ship such a light package. I guess this means that after subtracting $1.30 insurance, the sellers shipping costs were all of $0.83. Pretty good deal for them, I'd say. $3.25 - $0.83 = $2.42 extra profit.
Oh well.
Clark
Yes, $2.13 would include insurance on a single slab. If you look at the ones you've gotten from me, that's the postal amount.
Russ, NCNE
You're right. The only difference between you and seylevel is that you charge $2.95, use REAL packing materials, and INCLUDE the insurance!
You should consider raising your shipping charge (for everyone, except me!).
