Hi
If you don't mind providing a little feed back on the show. I am a member of the ILNA board and would like to know anything that you didn't like about the show, anything that could be done better or things you liked that should not be changed. The goal is to make this a very good show that collectors and dealers look forward to every year.
Thanks
Dave

I was there Friday and thought it was a real good show. Lots of real nice coins there and several big time dealers were there that I hadn't remembered at ILNA. It has been several years since I have been to an ILNA show. Last one I went to was in Peoria.
All in all, a very good show as far as I'm concerned.

one of these days I'm going to type something in here and get it right the first time but this isn't it.
1 gotta disagree a little w/ the fella's above. i thought it was a little bit down show from previous years. not saying it was bad necessarily, but a little light on the good stuff, ie bust and seated material, and hardly any decent copper at all! that is not a ILNA problem of course, but more a question of what dealers were there. didn't see a couple of the biggies that i thought might be there, kern, beymer, grellman, etc. they tend to carry more of what i collect. i'd suggest maybe trying to pull in a couple of the big boys in future shows.
2 there was some kind of incident on saturday where the cops showed up. what was that all about??? sounded like somebody was complaining about 1 of the dealers trying to rip him off, or something like that. just 1 of those crazy things, i guess, but a little distracting. any explanations on that dave?
3 on the + side, great to see john wright at the show. not nearly enough good guys like that around any more. also got to talk to tom reynolds for a little while. he was the only one with a lot of nice copper, but he's always strong on prices!
4 didn't get to participate in the auction. did pick up a flyer and look at some of the lots, but no grades or at least estimates were suggested in the flyer or on the lots! i might of put in absentee bids if there were grades listed, but no luck.
5 also on the plus side, good convenient location, had no prob's finding the show. plenty of free parking too, very much appreciated. it's also a terrific bonus to have the concession stand available.
6 all in all, can't complain, as i did drop about a grand at a couple of tables. i sense that the show was pretty slow overall, confirmed when i overheard quite a few dealers saying they weren't getting much traffic. maybe its because of the economy being a little slow? the benefit is that i was able to work down to better prices on a couple of coins. still wish there would have been more of the classic coins available. way, way too many moderns in my humble and worthless opinion!
if i had to grade the show, i'd call it VF-25. way to go, guys!!!

ps: i'd rather see anacs there than pcgs. just my opinion, because i know the anacs dudes real well.
agentjim,
A coin is worth what it's worth, doesn't matter where you are, or who is selling it, or how far they traveled to sell it. Also doesn't matter if it's been in their inventory for 5 years or if they just bought it 3 minutes ago, also doesn't matter how long it took them to find it or make it. Do not believe any of that fast talk, a coin is worth what it's worth, period. If a dealer tells you he has to cover his expenses or anything like that, just tell him that you traveled from Switzerland just to come to this show and have to cover your expenses too.

funny thing you mention Switzerland, I did go there this summer. What an experience, I want to go again.

I wasn't there but I will try to find out. There are off duty CountrySide cops there 24 hours, so the on duty ones would show up real fast at the slightest problem.
ANACS could be a possibility I'll be sure to push for inviting them.
The Central States connection may get Beymer and Kern interested they have been here before.
The auction was definitely a grade it yourself affair. I'm sure it turned a lot of newer collectors off. This will be mentioned.

The badges are as much a security issue as anything. No one gets past security without a tag, not even the dealers and club officials.

of chairs. You need much more modern next time, and a map of the floor would help.
I drove down 350 miles from Northern Wisconsin for the show. Was mainly interested in Wi & UP Mi
Nationals spent everything I brought plus a couple large checks. show was great for me. I do not get the opportuninty to partake in many shows and enjoyed this one. Parking was great, facilities were nice, lighting great and location easy to find. Will plan on attending again next year. I also looked around for some nice old copper and classic materials and did not see much, missed Tom Reynolds table completely a map with locations of dealers would be real nice for next year as some of us are only there for a couple hours and cannot walk around to every table.

I get a lot of suggestions from the dealers, but hardly any from the collector side of the table. This will help.
