I've been seeking a pleasant type 1 Seated dollar for a few weeks now. I would even settle for one with a couple of problems. After all, it's going into my Dansco type album. I tried the Buy/Sell/Trade forum and had a couple of offers but they were (wonderful) AU coins and out of my budget.
I was about to kind of give up when I stumbled upon this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1379886073&rd=1
Perfect. The perfect grade. Nice, problem free VF30- and a tougher date to boot.
But the real surprise was the price. For that kind of money I would expect a cleaning, or other light problem.
What do you think? I personally believe these are tough to locate problem free with original surfaces. ANACS is strict on Seated type, from my experience, so even though I'll be popping this one out of the plastic it's great having their endorsement on its condition.

Not even.. um, excessively circulated, either.
PS- I love the old Dansco 7070. I've done it twice. I might even have to do it again one day. First I have the three Danscos of Irish coins to fill.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

<< <i>I got full greysheet for the coin. It is a cool coin, but I want to get a higher grade and one in a PCGS slab. By the way, I thought you already bought one. Thanks for buying. Tom >>
You've also got a couple of higher grade (raw) Seated dollars up with terrific prices! I enjoyed your auction description on those too (dollar spent to buy a young woman a drink). If I was collecting these as a series (and not just for type) I'd have bought all three!
