Slab your own courtesy of Coin World

Just got my latest issue, and their is an insert from CoinWorld with all they sell. You can now buy your own "slabs" to place your coins in. Comes with the coin world logos not to be confused with a grading service. Kind of a neat item if you have some coins you want in a holder, but do not want to spend the money to grade them.

Will they fit in a pcgs or ngc storage box?
    What is the contact information?

I assume they are the same size as ANACS, but they are selling plastic storage boxes like PCGS and NGC for them. I would check coinworld.com. I am sure they will show up there.

I couldn't find anything at coinworld.
I would buy the boxes too if they hold anacs slabs image
    Thanks for the info.

I saw the same thing in my CW and thought that they were a pretty good idea. I couldn't find them on the Amos Website, but I'm sure they'll have them listed soon.

I called them. They do not have them yet, said it would be a couple of weeks. I hope you can get the inserts in a form to run them through a printer. Hate to have to write on them, no one would be able to read it.

  • I'm glad they molded the logos into the shells so I don't wind up with a lot more "grading services" showing up. Basicly they appear to be the exact same as the ANACS slabs except with a black insert instead of a white one and with the logoed shells. They also say COINWORLD on the labels but you should be able to get your own labels that you can run through your printer to use instead.
  • How much are they? Do you have to order for each ind. coin like Capital?
  • 2 things.

    1. Are they sonicly sealed? If not, then aren't they just like a box?

    2. Just a thought but why not have a "board approved" certification system image That way Supercoin and other genius graders could finally be the ones setting the mark instead of the random acts done by the current grading hierarchy.
  • Are they sonicly sealed? Of course not. How would you get your coins in them? image Of course for a few thousand dollars I'm sure Alan Hagar will sell you a sonic welder that will seal them.
  • Conder,

If they aren't sonicly sealed, then what good are they? Aren't you better off putting your coin into an Intercept shield then?
  • Probably, but that wouldn't look like your own little slabbing company. image

    Barry,

I think they will be great to place my lower grade error and variety coins in. Not worth sending in and paying a grading fee, but would still like to have in holders to match the rest of the set. This is perfect. As for being basically sealed, I think only NGC has holders that are airtight (at least I think that is what they advertise)

  • This is a product that will sell a lot.

    What good are they?

They offer an option to 2 x 2s, albums, or other storage methods. They are essentially a different version of a capital or other plastic holder/display. Maybe "slab your own" was misleading, but, that is what they look like.

  • I wonder if there would be a market for getting a sonic welder and offering to seal peoples Coin World slabs.

The storage boxes are on the web site now.

19xx Morgan Dollar, Coin World MS70

Hello Everyone, I just came across a coin at a Flea Market. This is a great coin that has graded MS70 by Coin World, the makers of Coin World Magazine. It still has it's mint luster, it is in perfect condition with exception to the scratches all over the face but they still graded it an MS70 and they are experts in the business.....of magazines. In MS70 condition this coin is worth atleast $500. Bid now and Bid High!

  • This will be great for all the coins I bought from Katzcoin. I can state which were belt sanded and which were whizzed right on the label.

The beauty of it is, is that you can scuff up the plastic and you can convince yourself that the scratches are on the plastic, rather than the coin.

  • That is true too. You can crack and put in a higher grade and think you are one up on a dealer.

leothlyon: No hobbes43 of the ebay coin chat room should take the credit. He came up with the idea of a 1999 redbook in a PCGS slab.

I have pics of that too if you want to see it?

i was wondering myself why the he11 anyone would want those??? aren't 2x2's a heckuva lot more convenient? seems like one of those holders occupies about the same space as 6 or 8 2x2's.
