  • Probably not, rough for most of the semi-precious gemstones is usually pretty cheap. (these stones are not a valuable as a lot of people think. Most people are only exposed to them through jewelers and the markup can be very high. Somehere around here I have a couple of 1/4 carat saphires that I have $18 each in and a six carat amethyst I have $15 in. These are faceted stones ready for mounting.) If you are interested in lapidary as a hobby this is possibly a good deal. I am but don't have the equipment or time. Might be something to take up when I retire.
