Holy Cow with Big Horns !!
Finally got a PCGS graded 21P that I just won on Ebay. Man let me tell you I HATE these total sight un-seen auctions. Seller had No Pictures for the Coin but did say it is PQ for the Grade. Bid a little less than 20% over Gray Sheet for the thing so Gosh Darnit this Baby Better be as Nice as the seller says. I'm one of these guys that hates the hassle of returning coins that are over graded or over hyped. Looks like some luck will be needed.....Maybe !!
Probably at some time will have to Up-Grade this but for the time being its Fantastic to just have the date. Well, here is Adolph's newest Little Lady.
What do you think ??

Ken,
I keep waiting on the punch line. What's going on? A 21P is not really rare in good. The only thing rare is that it is in a holder. Why would someone spend $15 to slab a $25 coin????? You must have been bored and wanted something to do, right?
I went to the Illinois show up by Chicago this weekend. Lot of nice coins, but no 23-S Merc. One dealer tried to sell me one in VG out of his 3 ring binder book before I could explain I wanted a 63 or 64.
One dealer did have a couple of nice Mercs. A 16-D in 63 and a 24-D in 65FB, both PCGS. I wish I would have had my 16-D with me to trade.
Oh well, good luck on your 21-P.
Jon
Oh well, it'll fill the hole for the time being, and you still get points for it in the registry. I hope it at least has full lettering on the reverse.

Good going Ken!
Yep, I think Ken and myself are board, I bid on it too, but decided it was high enough, I use that stuff for table stock, it sells real good.
Good luck on the coin....post that pic when it comes in...

The advantage of Ken's dime is that if the seller has puffed the piece and PCGS erred by grading the coin too high, Ken can return the coin to PCGS, get it downgraded (and receive $$$ from PCGS) and then sell the piece at a handsome profit to Braddick (which means even more $$$). Indeed, possibly Ken should be praying for a big, fat fingerprint right on Liberty's face because that fingerprint could be the route to a large profit margin!! ( )

I like your thinking on this coin. I will look it over Carefully to see if it is Over Graded. I was hopeing this might be a Pop 1 coin but it appears not to be. Seller Emailed Me and its on the way. Might have by Friday for a Friday Merc Thread.

My first post...

The Dime sure looks like it was a well struck coin when it left the Mint. Full Date that did not run into the Rim and nicely struck legends. Heck from the Detail left on the reverse I bet it was a Full Band dime also. Nice coin. I wish I would have socked it away in 1921 instead of spending it on Beer and Snacks with the local dealer of said items. Foolish me at the time.
No Excessive Drooling over this coin Please.
Take Care: Ken
Ken,
Nice coin for the grade. Don't see many of those.
Since you turned 55 this summer, I don't think you were buying beer in 1921. I did the math. Hurt a little, but I think I got it right. Just messing with you. Have a good weekend.
Jon
Since Prohibition went into effect in 1920, any beer that was bought in the '20's was illegal. I don't think that stopped most people, though. A dime was probably good for a couple beers back then. By the time some of us older Merc collectors started drinking, a 6 pack cost a buck and a quarter, and I remember being able to buy a case for $4.50 (plus deposit on the bottles).
Ken's '21-P is a solid good. Most 1921 dimes seem to grade AG-VG. You don't often see them in higher circulated grades.
Jim
I can relate to that.I remember paying 15 cent's for a glass of beer(NY),and most likely paid with a merc.Walkers,V nics,Slq,and buff's were very common .Not to many MD's..The good old day's.Al
