Even ICG wouldn't call this '71 Kennedy a DCAM.....

How about it everybody. Use that "grade by scan" ability to comment on this PCGS beauty.

I apologize for not knowing how to create the link. Hope someone can give me the instructions.

PCGS is tough on the 71-S Kennedy half. If the insert states it's 'DCAM' I'd not pass judgement until I saw the coin (and not just a scan).

  • If you want to create a link, just click on the HTTP tab above the message txt box when you go to post a thread or respond. You can then go to the page you want to link, copy the address from the adress line and paste it in the box that pops up. Then name you link anything you like.

    DCAMFranklin,

If you'll look in the registry for PR Kennedies, you'll see Ray's set (the bidder). I like the coin as dcam based on the obverse, but I'd like to see the reverse. I think the lettering looks good except for the shadowed 1 in 1971. I bet that's the pic angle. The good thing about PCGS's grade though is if you can show them why it won't grade what the holder says, they'll refund the difference in price.

BTW - I ran a thread the other day saying why I believe based on the pop reports that some of these coins ought to be in PR69 Dcam holders. I hope whoever buys it has a good eye.

It seems you have made my point. For months I read this forum before joining. I couldn't believe how many Members would proclaim their ability to "grade by scan". I even saw a Member question the grade of a PCGS PR-70 DCAM Kennedy, based solely upon a grainy scan of the obverse, only!! You are quite right about PCGS' protective grading of the 1971 DCAM Kennedy. Yet, if you use the scan to judge the coin, then.......... So, let's all agree. You can't judge a coin on the scan alone.
