Jewelers

I was curious as to how much a jewelers income was. I went to Yahoo careers and it said the average jeweler makes $35,000. Is this true? I would have thought that this was a skilled trade that would command more money! I noticed a lot of coin dealers are also in the jewelry biz. I thought that if I were in this line of work I would want to take the hands on approach, Ive always been interested in making things. I would think it would come in handy when you wanted to repair that hole in that rare coin!

I would think it depends on how they define jeweler. It's probably a lot like coins. The owner might make a lot of money but the people who work behind the counter of a jewelry store don't make much. It also depends on your skill, reputation and sales ability. I know a wholesale guy who travels around the country selling to jewelry stores that makes several hundred thousand a year.

Have you tried making a ring out of a silver coin, such as a quarter or half dollar? It is really pretty easy.
