PCGS - Something positive to say.

PCGS has taken a beating lately and in some instances they probably deserve it. But we all make errors and I have known them to correct mistakes.
More importantly PCGS [NGC too] provide a measure of validity to our hobby. Imagine the days of sellers over grading a $1k coin by 2 grades or more, an expensive lesson for the uninformed. That's what turned me off to coins years ago, it appeared every dealer over graded their coins. Sure, it continues today with dealers who sell raw or rogue slabbers like A*G but it is a much better world.
I am no expert but last Thursday my golf buddy wanted me to look at his "silver medallion", it turned out to be a trade dollar. I was excited for him but it looked strange. I own 3 slabbed Trades and this one looked just "fuzzy". Upon closer examination I concluded it was a fake and a local dealer also came to the same conclusion. My friend was disappointed but imagine if he had sold it on ebay and some uninformed person bought it. A professional grading service protects buyers and that's good.
PCGS may have its faults but I am glad they are here.

that alot of newcomers to the hobby confuse the "QUASI" grading services with the real thing.

you will need prior approval from the Board of Grumpy, Constipated Governors. You start allowing
positive statements and who knows where it could lead to. Bear

You practically didn't dare buy a 1909-S VDB without all kinds of consulation.
