  • Just comparing records:

    Jason Jennings 16-6, 4.38
    K. Ishii 14-9, 4.18 ERA
    Mark Prior 6-6, 3.32 ERA

Looks like Jennings should get it.

I also believe that Jennings will win it. If he doesn't, then something is wrong and they shouldn't even have a NL ROY. He's put up excellent numbers considering he pitches in Coors Fieldm which I don't think he pitches well there (who does? considering Nomo pitched a no hitter there image) so that just shows he's good on the road, which makes him even more valuable (if they were in a playoff race for wildcard, etc.), but yeah...he should get it. I hope he does because he deserves it.
  • Nah, I'll hold on to it. Just looked on ebay. Books at $20. One is up to $15.50 w/ 3 days to go. image

Actually, I think Jennings pitches better at Coors Field, statistically(?).

  • If you ask me there should be a very strong case made for Alex Sanchez from the Brewers. Now before you jump on me for being a homie, just hear me out. This guy was hitting close to .300 for the season before he recently went in a slump and then broke his leg a couple days ago (finished at .289 avg, but again he was in a slump the last week or so, most likely would have finished at .300). And not just that, but he was like #2 or #3 in the stolen base column, and he did that w/o starting every game (our moron manager sat him against lefties all season cause of his stupid lefty/righty rule that he put in place for like every player on the team except for sexson. If you were a lefty, no matter how good you were, you would not play against a left handed pitcher (and whats odd is sanchez actually had a higher average against lefties)). He also did very well hitting with RISP, and I always have alot of respect for guys that can get a hit when it really counts. There really should be a string case made for Sanchez. But I still think Jennings should win. You can't ignore those stats in Coors Field.

Yeah, you're right. He does have a better record in Coors Field than on the road. He has a winning percentage of .636 on the road, and at home he has a winning percentage of .818. Pretty impressive. He DEFINITELY needs to ROY award.

  • You cant look at wins. You got to look at ERA. Wins for pitchers are the most overrated stat in baseball. Ex: Ben Sheets for the Brewers has a 4.36 ERA yet has a 9-15 record while Mike Mussina has a 4.71 ERA yet is 16-8. It all depends on what team you are on and how much run support you get. I really wish they would get rid of that win/loss stat for pitchers. Its like implying that it all depends on the pitchers and it doesnt. Win/loss record should be strictly a team stat, not also a pitcher stat. Instead of posting Win/Loss they should be posting ERA. I also feel they should throw out the best game and worst game in a pitchers ERA (that is if he has started 20 or more games). That way they would really get an accurate figure on their ERA. So for starting pitchers they should throw out the best and worst start and go strictly on ERA. Win/loss record, what a joke.

But look at the Rockies record...well under .500 and Jennings is 10 games over .500 .
