Anyone view the Andre Dawson collection?

Four years ago Heritage offered a collection of his coins, including some very interesting copper. Among two Indian cents I'm curious about is an 1896 PCGS 68RD (one of only 3 IHs PCGS ever gave this grade) and an 1859 NGC MS66 that had some incredible toning according to their archive description. Did any of you view these lots and/or have any other info about his collection?

    Shylock,

The 1896 graded ms 68 red was an NGC coin.I believe it was sent to me and I graded it 67 red.It sold for $5,000 to Martin Paul and then it was retailed by Northeast numismaticsfor a profit.I don't know anything about the 1859 in ms 66

Thanks Stewart -- it's pretty cool to actually get first hand IH info here! I just went back to the Heritage lots and I got my services crossed on that coin. Heritage has sold 2 of NGC's 3 68RDs over the last 4 years -- do you know if the 3 PCGS coins have been out of circulation for a while?
  • Is this THE Andre Dawson??

  • The baseball player Andre Dawson?

Whoa, I would have never known he collected.

Wonder what other sports guys are coin collectors in their spare time.

I do know that both Karl Malone and John Stockton have bought some pricey coins...
  • I had an idea the other night... (I have the 1853-O Arrows & Rays Half MS-64 Ex. Andre)
    What if:
I carefully cut out the ngc label in the slab so the coin couldn't come out, visit Andre, ask him to sign it, then resubmit the label and coin to ngc to reslab with the signed label?

Would the people at PCGS do this if i crossed it to PCGS first?

    Hope I made myself clear.

  • Understandably, I get less response when I put questions inside of prior threads started with another question... If I don't get a reply this time, I guess I should start a new topic.
...Please read my above question and see if you know anything about it.
