What's the longest amount of time you have...

waited for that special coin or key date to finish off your collection?

The longest I've waited is 4 years for my 1924-S buffalo XF-45 to come along
It was the last coin for the collection.

It took me about three years to find a 1936 TyII PF 65 RD Lincoln cent without spots or haze that I could keep. I sent four of them back to national dealers when they didn't make the cut.

  • Been working off and on my Morgan set as long as I can remember. Certain ones just never seem to appear and/or be in my budget. But still I "endevour to persevere"

Some day that 93-S (among a few others) will be in my Whitman folder

It took me about five years to locate the perfect F12 1796 quarter.

The coins I collect are getting more dispersed and worn out every year.
I have to face the fact that a lot of the coins I need I'll never find. There's
    a down side to everything.

You could be surprised ... I waited three months for a 17/2 pop coin, a PR-68 1958 PCGS Jefferson. It's only 44 years old, but man, I did not think that thing ever was going to pop out. (I know you classic guys are probably giggling, but take a look at the pop figures on some of these high-grade Jeffs given the mintages -- not exactly a walk in the park.) Shallow, perhaps, but everything in my main Jeff set from 53 up was 68 (brilliant, CAM or DCAM) and that 67 on the old '58 stood out like a sore thumb. Now, to get that 42-P Type 2 upgraded to a 67 ... If I wait for a DCAM, I may die first ... image
  • Funny you would ask. I just received a coin yesterday that I've been waiting on for 0ver 3 years. It doesn't complete the colection though. That one has two more to go.

I've been waiting and watching for a few years to come across a couple of Tough buffalos. 1916/1916 and 1936d 3.5 leg. Of course the 1916 would have to be a g/vg. I should have bought the PCGS G4 I saw one time before I was interested in the series.
