I suppose this is another that you could easily make yourself?
egsantos,
I posted about this coin over in the US Coin forum. I think this seller has somewhat unrealistic expectations about the value of the piece. I think a lot of sellers are looking at how hot the market is for color and setting these ridiculous prices without realizing that there's a huge difference between a monster toned classic, and a marginally toned modern.
Look at it. It looks like a coin doctor was just practicing to make a crescent to possibly put on a Morgan Dollar. The uneven crescent suggests that a blowtorch might have been used on the edge then moved up and down the rim. The colors also look like the colors that heat makes. Just my personal opinion.

Egsantos - You have just heard from Russ. He is one of the wise wizards of the Forum on Kennedy Half Dollars. I would give careful thought to his comment, which I concur most fully with.
You flatter me. In reality all that I know was learned from you.
LW,
Considering the current VERY twitchy environment in regards to toning at PCGS, and the fact that the coin was graded within the last month or so, I seriously doubt that it is artificially toned. But then, maybe you know more about it then the graders at PCGS.
Russ, Thank you. I have the same impression than you, but I'm novice to be sure.
Littlewicher,
Yo hablo el idioma español fluídamente. Yes, I speak Spanish, but just eventually. The language of my Country is Portuguese. We are the only Country in Americas that speak Portuguese. All of our neighbors speak Spanish. I try speak others languages as French, Italian and a little of German, for business purpose. With limitations, I speak (a poor) English also.
Bear,
Thanks for you too. In the education process how more ideas, mostly from experts, more easy to learn. I have a pretty nice Kennedy set but, I confess, I don't understand nothing about toning. Personally, I like of the absolutely white coins. Maybe I'm not in the level to understand and appreciate the toning coins.
Edson - Knowledge does take a little time, but you are on the right Forum to learn. Stay with your blast white coins untill you are comfortable , with what real and superior toned coins should look like. When you see a number of them from a reputable collector or dealer , you will never forget the absolute beauty of such toned coins. But go slow , untill you are sure with what you are buying. Remember, we are all here to help you learn and enjoy this wonderful hobby. Bear
É isso mesmo LW. You're exactly right LW, Brazil is the only country in the Americas that speaks Portuguese. Matter of fact, I believe Edson and myself are the only two residents of Brazil on the board (if not, please speak up!). Well, El Contador is a part-time resident/tourist. Até mais, Dave
Hi Dave, Nice to talk with you. Send news by e-mail.
Bear, In my language your nickname spells URSO, and coincidentally is the nickname (in Portuguese) of my son also. He is a 6 feet tall guy, 225 lb. and deserves the nickname. He lives at 7.000 miles far from me in Redmond WA. Thank you for you post. I have a collection of Morgans in a Dansco album, mostly bought here in Brazil, some more rare than others, and a lot of common years. In the collection I have a dozen of very toned coins, with rainbow effect that I will see with another eyes from now.
Yes, He lives there at 2 years. He is a Software Test Engineer. Normally I visit Redmond twice a year for a weekend with him and my daughter in law. Next time we can schedule a lunch or a dinner together.
I think the toning is real and I like the color. I had come across a 1969 D MS 66 that had some great toning from one of the teletrade rainbow auctions. It was a coin in my former MS Kennedy set, now wondercoins son is the proud owner, and he wont let it go for years to come.
This coin is way over priced at 1250.00, its worth maybe 200.00 to 250.00 tops. But if you look closely its great toning, with PCGS so tough and even more so on toned coins I have doubts that it could be A/T.
My personal opinion is that the seller made an input error when putting the auction up. Probably meant to put it at $125. Can't see anyone in any universe actually thinking this coin can be worth this much. I know the seller and can't think of any other explanation.
I think the toning is real. I've seen several special mint set half dollars with the same thing. I think the original plastic holder wasn't completely sealed on the side and air gets in and makes that crescent shape. I have one like it in inventory but couldn't find it to scan and show.

It's fake. Sorry boys... That almost looks like heat treated...
Dump it in the oven, raise one side and what do you get?
Hottest part (blue) closer to the rim and cooler twards the middle!
Like I said, IMHO...
