Buy the coin...but be sure to pay for it.

  • my guess would be YES, due to the number of auctions "tax_doctor" has bid on from that seller.

    I don't think so.

  • I have occasionally been leery of buying through eBay because I hear a lot of horror stories about unscrupulous sellers (and buyers). I am trying to learn how to analyze sellers prior to bidding and buying from them. I appreciate the sleuthing techniques I am picking up on this forum.

  • I see no reason to believe so. This is a high quality item being sold by a seller with over 3000 transactions and with 0 negs and 0 neutrals.

    If you see something you like you can always ask forum members if they have dealt with seller. You'll get the straight answer. Unfortunetly there are a lot of guys that sell sub quality coins with great feedback.
  • The seller is Martin Paul who is very well known in numismatic circles.

    BTW, anyone else find the statement:

    PLEASE NOTE THAT IF ANYONE CONTACTS YOU TO DISREGARD OUR INSTRUCTIONS ON PAYMENT PLEASE REPORT THEM IMMEDIATELY TO US AND CALL US AT (508) 877-9855 AND ASK FOR DEBBIE, MARIA OR MARTIN. THANK YOU!

    curious?

    cdmead.....A statement like that in that auction would make me just stay away from it. Rampage!

    Rampage;

    Just sounds to me like they are trying to avoid fraud from "lookalike" scammers trying to collect on other people's auctions; not something that should make one stay away from the auction. Just my opinion on it though...why does it make you leery of the auction?

    Other than being a new eBayer that has bid on a lot of PCGS & NGC gold what looks like a shill? Bidding on 3 auctions from the same seller does not make a shill. If that was the case he would be shilling for verypq and coin-and-stamp-deals too because he has bid on several of their auctions.
    Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
