yeah looks like you should have got more, oh well that is still a nice pay day.
  • Well, cash is cash. I'm about to blow out a lot of cards myself. Get a few I've always wanted, finish this Classic Cuts set, then that's it for me.
  • Yeah, most of the time vintage in nice shape gets good money. I can't complain though, I got it in a collection I bought out like 2 years ago so its all profit
  • Should have gotten it graded.

    Thanks

  • It was definantly gradeable
  • A better scan would have gotten a better bid. And if it was graded, it would have been up there.

  • << <i>It was definantly gradeable >>

    Actually, it's "DEFINITELY" and "GRADABLE."

  • He's the king of Welbstuh'z Dikshunairy.
  • yehh i kienduf notissd

  • I would have sent this card to PSA for grading. The $12 it would have costed to grade it could have made you thousands more. Was the card in flawless shape?

You probably cost yourself several hundred dollars by including only one poor (washed out) scan of the card. Buyers on high-end vintage material want assurances that the card is unaltered and as high-grade as it appears. That picture could cover up creases, and without any back scan, it could be written on or have back damage for all a bidder knows.
Your description is weak - a 1950 Ted Williams is fairly hard to find in any condition. Buyers want details - even though they will assume that your grade opinion is an overgrade, it gives them a working basis to judge the card's condition (usually 1 to 2 grades lower).
Your seller feedback is also low (4 total, with only 1 with a viewable item), and since the one they can check out is for a graded card, it raises an inference that you either couldn't get this one graded or knew it would get a much lower grade than you could make it appear in pictures when ungraded.
Before you next post a high-end card for auction, look at the auction descriptions and pictures of some of the most successful eBay sellers.

  • Yes the grading would have been a good idea, even if just to prove authenticity. Also should have cropped the scan around the card and enlarged it, I can't tell what the corners look like from that scan. I have seen many auctions where all is great but the scan is not, it is too far away to see, this is very important especially in an auction like this.

  • My question is, "Why did you set your reserve so low?", if you wanted more your should have set the reserve higher, you can always go back to the high bidder and offer it off ebay if your reserve isn't met.

Probably the greatest baseball player ever, no telling what he would have accomplished if he had not left baseball twice to serve as a pilot in both WW II and The Korean War.......
  • Also, you should have done at least a 5-day auction. i always try to do 7, the longer it's there, the more potential bidders will see it

  • Yeah well, I had nothing in the card and it was just in my collection. I can't really complain much cause $325 cash in my pocket is a lot better than a old babseball card in my safe.
