a couple of registry questions

Is it possible to have a search within the registry to find all collections of a registrant?

Heard any progress on the registry including Year Sets?

Thank you.

I'd like to see a search feature that allows you to find all the sets that have a certain coin (i.e. 1945 1¢ in MS66RD) in it.

I'd also like to see all "hidden" sets delisted. Show it or lose it. I know the reasons behind having the sets hidden, it just looks pathetic in a venue for showing off the sets.

That would be interesting to see. According to PCGS, there are about 1000 collectors participating (as of about a month ago I believe).

About a year ago I suggested putting a number beside sets listed in the each set catagory to indicate if there was a new set added. A red number would indicate a new set, black would indicate no change. Another color could indicate deleted. You would then be able to see, at a glance, under each catagory, whether a new set was added. Instead, a list of sets was created and the number of sets registered for each catagory is shown. The problem is if you don't know what the set catagory total was yesterday, you won't know if a new set was added today.

Perhaps both Collectors Participating and Sets in each Catagory will be added in the future.

Not only is there no way to perform an electronic search for all the collections of a single person, but unless the email address is supplied, you can't tell even with a manual search.

Yes, there are now year sets (PCGS calls them "Proof Sets")as part of the registry. Excerpted from the registry news:

    1936 Proof Set
    1937 Proof Set
    1938 Proof Set
    1939 Proof Set
    1940 Proof Set
    1941 Proof Set
    1942 Proof Set

  • I agree with Greg - a search function that would allow to see all registry coins for a certain denomination, year, mintmark and grade, etc would be extremely helpful.

  • Sometimes when I look at some of the top finest sets, I'd like to see what other sets that person has on the registry. I think there should be a link so that you could see what other sets they have registered. A overall search function would also work.

Only the registrant gets to see all of his sets with the " Set Summary" link. (you have to log in first)

    That is a good idea!

How about a "Log On" link on the main page!!!!!

Go to "register your set" then go to the bottom of the page to click "edit set" is a pain in the arse!

I do not know if it truly addresses the questions raised here -- and a search function would indeed be welcome and not at all hard to accomplish with some programming tweaks -- but you can keep track of new sets -- as well as updated sets -- although for only within the past five days, under a well-hidden link on the "news" page under the registry:

    Good link. Thanks.
  • The suggestion about a search function or a link to a registrant's other registered sets has been brought up recently and BJ is looking into it. She is on vacation at the moment. I believe she plans to let people know about this possible option in the news page to see if there will be any objections. This is in case some people use the same username to register several sets (but with very different collection names) and they don't necessarily want people to know that all those sets are owned by the same person for some reason that we may not know about. So we don't want to put this new option out there without people consenting to wanting all sets owned by them displayed together. In any case, BJ will let you all know whether this will be implemented. Thank You for your suggestions.

  • One more note, for future suggestions, you can use the link on the news page to inform BJ as she or other set registry staff don't always read the message board or come across a thread that contains a suggestion. That's the best way to communicate your suggestions about the set registry to BJ to see if they can be implemented. Thank you.

  • One problem is that with the infomration publicly available, you cannot even tell what sets one person owns regardless of how much searching you do, unless the registrant includes an email address (and uses the same one for all sets) or the registrant uses the same set name. Perhaps it might be viewed as a breach of some peoples' privacy, but I would like to see a search capability---obviously, PCGS knows who the registrants are, so they could do the search and just not show the owner's name. If PCGS deemed it necessary, they could add an 'opt-out' option for those who do not want their sets included in the search.
