I don't really like either of them. I'm pretty sure the one that Placid linked sold in an eBay live auction (Heritage, I think) recently for around $600.
I have figured out where the second one gets that type of stripe. I put a ASE in one of those little envelopes and made a note of it's orientation. The stripe was where the glue line of the paper was... JFYI,,,,,,, Another month sitting top the cable box and it would of looked very similar. It's just not my cup of tea though.
Russ is right- those colors don't warrant the expense of the coin. R & I had a simular one with a BIN of $30.00 about a year ago I bought. If anyone knows how to price SMS Kennedies with color it's Rick.
I'd be surprised if this auction hooks anyone at all.
Ha HaHaHaHaHaHaaaaHaaaaa!!! He Hee Heee HeeeeeeHaaa !!! (The picture doesn't do this coin justice - the luster and iridescence are incredible) - so yes, in some cases color is worth this much.
Please excuse the outrageous display of emotion. Time to go back to drooling over MY NEW SUPER BEAUTIFUL MONSTER TONED IHC and pet the cat.
This little beauty was my second choice, but alas, to save the marriage and ensure that the kids and the cat continue to eat (although maybe a little less ), only one could be had.
So if any of you forum members purchase this gem - please let me purrrr over it a little.
Also, just imagine what a coin with the clash of the 2 Cent piece Placid posted and the toning of one of these proof Indians might be worth - boggles my little feline mind.
But then the 3 cent series would be complete, with copper, nickel and silver (suppose an argument could be made for a gold 3 cent coin - but can you imagine how small it would be?) Would drive the vending machine manufacturers nuts! Imagine trying to find it in a slab?

But what do I know, I'm only a little bear.

Personally, I think this one is much prettier.

It doesn't really look that good in person. Matter of fact, I think it's ugly. I'm just good with the camera.

I tried that. PCGS body-bagged the picture for questionable authenticity.
